2Bears Tavern Uptown Opens March 10th!
2BEARS TAVERN UPTOWN, CHICAGO’S NEWEST LGBTQIA BAR, TO OPEN ON MARCH 10
2Bears Tavern Group—which owns and operates Andersonville’s The SoFo Tap and Meeting House Tavern and Rogers Park’s Jackhammer—will open 2Bears Tavern Uptown on March 10 at 5 p.m., in the former Nick’s on Wilson space at 1140 West Wilson Avenue. Located on the first floor of the FLATS’ “Bachelor” residential building, this LGBTQIA+ tavern will boast free pinball, video games and darts; seven TVs; cocktails, CBD beverages and eight rotating drafts; be dog-friendly and have a late-night tavern license.
After owners Mark Robertson and Mike Sullivan opened Meeting House Tavern in the South of Foster (SoFo) section of Andersonville in summer 2018 and acquired the nearly shuttered Jackhammer in the fall of the same year, they turned their sights toward the Wilson/Broadway area of Uptown for their next tavern. “This area is booming,” said Mark Robertson, President of 2Bears Tavern Group. “With a first-rate CTA station, Truman College, and more than 1,000 residential units coming to the area in the next 18–24 months, it is a great place for a neighborhood LGBTQIA+ tavern.” The area has already seen several new retail and entertainment projects, including the Baton Lounge, Double Door, and Chicago Market–a cooperative grocery–joining great retail and dining options along Wilson Avenue.
2Bears Tavern Group again partnered with architect and interior design firm d+k—the firm behind the redevelopment of 5025 N Clark Street which houses Meeting House Tavern—to remake the space into a modern interpretation of a Jazz Era tavern boasting tin ceilings, reclaimed wood and copper finishes.
2Bears Tavern Uptown welcomes and supports all communities and the 2Bears team is committed to providing guests with a fun, friendly and quality experience. 2Bears Tavern Uptown is dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ and local charities, and sponsoring sports leagues and teams and charitable community events.
As with all 2Bears Tavern Group locations, 2Bears Tavern Uptown will feature every day and daily specials, house shots and classic cocktails, with a focus on value. 2Bears Tavern Uptown is a dog-friendly bar and customers are welcome to bring in food or order in for delivery. 2Bears Tavern Uptown will be open from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday.
